Handmade Baby Dragon

Pin It       I like working with clay very much. Especially in times of problems, it is a good way to escape from thoughts and all the boredom. I tried to make a mini dragon this time. I used normal clay (not polymer clay) and I air-dried it. Then handpainted and varnished.

Pin It       I made this dragon eyes by using various materials such as foam, clay, metal scales and glass. Back part is covered with eva and it has a strong magnet attached. The dimensions are app. 4.5 x 6 cm. Most people find these eyes weird but still I love them :)

Characters in My Life - Vol.4: Sobek-Medusa-Edgar-Allan-Poe

Pin It       This morning I took a picture of some of my guys so you can see the rest of the characters in my life.
The one in the front is Sobek (you may remember the details about it in one of my previoust chainmail posts), the one next to it, the green snake is Medusa, my very first piece in this collection. It is a hermaphrodite snake. The one at the back is the dinosaur Edgar, the smiling snake is Allan and the little mouse is Poe (yeah together they form the name of my favorite writer :).

Characters in My Life - Vol.3: FROGS

Pin It       I collect many kinds of model animals like spiders, snakes, mice, crocodiles, all kinds of reptiles, dinasaurs, bugs and also frogs. They have a very important place in my life, all of them have names, unique characters (from my point of view). They accompany me while reading, eating or resting and I sometimes share my thoughts with them. We also travel and work together from time to time. All in all I like to live with them in my very PurPLe Planet and hope they enjoy living with me as well. :)

Here is a picture from last night's serious frog meeting in front of my library:

Characters in My Life - Vol.1: HARLEQ

I am a person who lives mostly in her imagination so I have some characters that I feel attached and platonically attracted to. I think they also need to take place in the records of my personal history :).
One of these characters is a certain Harlequin. I say "certain" because actually I used to (or maybe still) dislike clowns but this one is a drawing that I found on internet 15 years ago. I can not read the signature clearly so I still don't know who the artist is.

The drawing that I found on internet
Originally, Harlequin is both a type of clown and a comic servant character from the Italian Commedia Dell'arte (a form of theater which began in the 16th century and characterized by masked performers). However I use it as a proper name here and in order to prevent that generalisation I named him "Harleq".

Tha clay sculpture that I made after getting inspired by the drawing
The tragic part of the story is, while moving from one house to another, carriers broke my sculpture into pieces (pffffff..). Only the head survived so I will make another one soon. (Maybe that's not too bad, the hand sucks in this one, I can work on it more :))

I like working on craft paper since it gives a special kind of effect. This one is also drawn on it.
