Knitting Season Has Started!

Pin It       One of the most comforting hobbies in my life is knitting, especially in winter time. I really forget all the other things and clean my mind or if I need to think about a project, idea or just some "thing", it is also a good way to concentrate. After a couple of hours, you will not believe how much you've progressed.
      Nowadays it is not yet the real winter but I decided to start my favorite season with knitting :) Here is a blue hemstitch cardigan that I knitted:
It was supposed to look like vintage and I still doubt that :)

Got Bored? Have Some Sunflower Seeds :)

Pin It       Well I got the inspiration from a friend on Instagram and got a package of sunflower seeds. That's how I discovered the "primitive adult lego" :) It is quite fun to make shapes and forms with these and eating afterwards is a bonus as well. (These healthy snacks control cell damage, contain bone-healthy minerals, keep you calm with magnesium, bring a glow to your skin, prevent heart troubles, so forth and so on.)
      So do you get bored? Have a package of sunflower seeds :)
Yes, the shape of my first try may be quite predictable :)

X-Painted Rocks

Pin It       I spent my weekend outside the city again and had some quality time by drawing, reading and sleeping (which I do for a very few hours normally). Since unfortunately last 10 days were busy with consequent and unexpected funerals, I was very upset and didn't want to spend time in the city, in crowd so such a weekend turned out to be a good support for me.
      This time I tried a new practise: Painting on rocks. It is a guaranteed way to keep your mind away from problems or basicly everything so even if you think you don't have the skill, I recommend you to try this at least once (and collecting these on the shore itself is a therapy as well).

My working space

One of my favorite creatures next to one of my favorite fruits.

It felt harder than drawing on paper because of the ragged surface and I like working with very thin pen but it turned out to be a bad choice since it is impossible to varnish without smudging the ink so acrylic paint with brush is the thing you shall choose.

X-Books

Pin It       I am a dedicated reader and books occupy very big space in my life (both metaphorically and literally because my room is filled with them :)

      Getting a new book is one of the things that make me happy. Since people around me know that, I always get books on occasions like birthdays or Christmas, etc. So if I am writing a blog to keep my personal history in a virtual cabinet, I felt that I definitely had to write about my reading habit and favorite pieces of literature.

     I am more into historical, scientific and technical books about archaeology, linguistics, botany, zoology, mythology rather than novels but as long as it is not a romance book I like reading all of them. Some classical novels are exceptional though. It is not so good but I am allergic to bestsellers also. Even if it is a good one, I try to read it after a while.
 My favorite books and authors are as follows:
* Sherlock Holmes series
* All works of Edgar Allan Poe
* Shakespeare
* Umberto Eco
* Patrick Suskind
* Mehmet Hengirmen
* Bernard Werber
* Alexandre Dumas
* Laurence Sterne
* Nikolai Gogol
* Thomas Bernhard
* All kinds of encyclopedias
* Dictionaries
* Printed ancient Ottoman documents
* Ancient Egypt culture
* Astronomy books
* Fantastic Ravenloft series
* Terry Pratchett books
* Writings of ancient philosophers
* Archaeological excavation reports
so forth and so on... (because I felt that my list will go on forever:)

      By the way, for a long time I have been looking for a book called "The Wasp Factory" by Iain Banks. It is not sold or printed anymore so if you know a second-hand bookseller where I can find a copy or someone willing to sell (regardless of the country), I will be very glad.

...And Everything Has Consequences :)
